His motto is “We Are the Purpose” is his promise to everyone he encounters “If I can help you get to where you want to go, that’s my mission”.
Growing up in Baltimore City Murphy saw his fair share of urban plight and how it effects the people that live in certain environments. With a burning desire to get involved in community activism he joined a group of high school friends to create a ‘rights of passage’ program to provide manhood training for African American males. After having sons of his own he joined the Baltimore City Police Department as a way to provide for his family and serve as a role model for other young Black males.
Currently, Murphy has a partnership with Shoe City stores in Baltimore where Black Paper StreetWear is carried in six locations. In his spare time he teaches young African American students how to create their own clothing business operated directly on their cell phones. His next venture is to formulate a structured program (T-Shirt University LLC) in an effort to teach future groups of students by partnering with Omar Muhammad (EDAC) of Morgan State University.
Born and raised in Baltimore, lived over East off of Hazelwood Circle until 11-12, then moved and matured over West to where I am present day. I was always drawn to music ever since I can remember, and once my mother purchased my first Rap cd at 7, I was all in from there!
My influencers consist of quite a few different artists: From Curren$y, Wale, J. Cole, Stalley, Kendrick and Domo Genesis. To Nas, Big, Pac, Jay, Rakim, Cube, Kool G Rap, Pun, Big L; list could go for a while.
But ultimately, these artists all have/had a true love for the craft, and that’s displayed in the outcome of their work before the music.
